• European Union High Level Mission to Singapore

The European Union Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski visited Singapore on 14-15 July 2022, accompanied by a business delegation of 50 senior representatives from the European agri-food sector, representing mainly meat, dairy, wines, spirits, fruit and vegetable products.

The purpose of this visit was to facilitate European agricultural food and beverage exports to Singapore and Southeast Asia, and to benefit from the positive outcomes of the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement.

In order to take stock of the agri-food opportunities under the FTA, the EU organised a business forum: Agri-Food Business Opportunities under the EU-Singapore FTA focusing on the role of Singapore as the Asian food capital and a regional agri-food trade hub, held on 15 July.

In the forum, we discussed the agreement’s implementation in matters relevant to agri-food trade, protection of geographical indications (GIs), as well as food security and resilience matters.

Selected companies and organisations shared their success stories with European F&B products on the Singaporean market and beyond, while EU business delegates provided further insights why EU food and beverage products are “More than Food”. The forum facilitated B2B networking meetings between the participating businesses.
